A Brief History
Manasquan was first settled as part of Shrewsbury in the late 1600's. It takes it name, "Man-A-Squaw-Han" (stream of the island of squaws) from the Lenni Lenape Indians who were summer visitors here for hundreds of years.

An Ideal Summer Resort
Because of its prime Central Jersey seashore location and good climate, Manasquan has been an ideal summer resort and year round residence for centuries. Broad, clean sandy beaches and sparkling clear surf assure swimmers and sunbathers the ultimate in refreshing relaxation. Nature's generosity in providing an abundance of fish has created a veritable paradise for surf and deep sea fishing.

Accommodations
Manasquan has an abundance of rental accommodations for families and groups. Many cottages are available at the beach area on a weekly, monthly or seasonal basis, and most of these accommodations are strictly summer in character. Reservations can be made in local surrounding towns and at major motel and hotels. The Manasquan Chamber of Commerce (908-223-8303) will guide you to these accommodations.
