NAVESINK LIGHT STATION - TWIN LIGHTS HISTORIC STATE PARK - Highlands - Twin beacon lighthouse marks the western entrance into the New York Harbor. Began operating in 1828 until it was decommissioned in 1949. Although no longer used for navigation, its beacons are still shining. 732-872-1814
MOUNT MITCHELL SCENIC OVERLOOK - Atlantic Highlands - At 266 feet above sea level, it is the highest point on the entire Atlantic Seaboard. BARNEGAT LIGHTHOUSE - Barnegat Light - Nicknamed 'Old Barney', the lighthouse stands 175 feet tall, marking the entrance to Barnegat Inlet. Designed by Civil War General George G. Meade in 1835, and rebuilt in 1858, the lighthouse was in operation for over 80 years. 609-494-2016
